Belarusian PM to visit Russia, Kazakhstan on 1-3 February

Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko will pay a working visit to Nizhny Novgorod and Ulyanovsk of Russia and Almaty of Kazakhstan on 1-3 February, BelTA has learned.

"We need to talk over the negotiating positions, especially on those issues that are sensitive for us. As for the Russian regions, the tasks are clear and traditional: exports, joint projects in industrial cooperation. We continue to implement the measures launched last year to redirect exports from the unfriendly states to the markets where we are welcome," Roman Golovchenko said.

According to the press service of the government, during the working visit the prime minister will meet with Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Gleb Nikitin to review the status of cooperation. Nizhny Novgorod will also host a business forum to facilitate cooperation between the business communities of Belarus and the Russian region. The Belarusian head of government is set to visit PAO Plant Krasnoye Sormovo. When in Nizhny Novgorod, the prime minister is expected to visit the automobile plant to a line-up of GAZ vehicles and the main assembly line.

A meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will be held in Almaty on 2-3 February. According to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the meeting will focus on the macroeconomic situation in the EAEU member states and proposals for sustainable economic development; rules for access to interstate electricity transmission services in the common market; progress in the joint project "Eurasian Agroexpress"; amendments to the regulations on the development, financing and implementation of interstate programs and projects in the manufacturing sector and other issues. The heads of government of the EAEU member states are also set to take part in the plenary session of the forum “Digital Almaty 2023: Digital Partnership in the New Reality". Roman Golovchenko is also scheduled to have a working meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in Almaty.

Then the Belarusian head of the government will travel to Ulyanovsk to meet with Governor of Ulyanovsk Oblast Aleksei Russkikh. The parties are going to sign an agreement of intent to set up an international industrial complex for the production of semi-trailers based on MAZ vehicles in Ulyanovsk Oblast. The prime minister will also visit Aviastar, a subsidiary of PAO Il.
