Abandoned lands in Gomel, Mogilev oblasts may be used for tourism, agriculture

NAROVLYA DISTRICT, 26 April (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has issued an instruction to make a decision on the lands in Gomel Oblast and Mogilev Oblast that can be returned for use, including tourism and farming operations. The proposal to resume of the use of the previously abandoned farmlands for tourism and farming operations was voiced when the Belarusian head of state visited the Polesie state radiation ecology reserve in Narovlya District on 26 April. Alexander Lukashenko instructed the governors of Gomel and Mogilev oblasts to study the matter in detail and present a report to him. “We will make a decision by autumn,” said the President. The possibility of resuming the use of 4,000 hectares of land in Mogilev Oblast and 34,000 hectares of land in Gomel Oblast to manufacture clean products is under consideration. The head of state believes that it is necessary to wisely and carefully treat the matter.
