Ballot papers to be delivered to polling stations 13 December

MINSK, 9 December (BelTA) – Ballot papers will be delivered to the polling stations on 13 December, secretary of the Central Election Commission Nikolai Lozovik told BelTA. “By law, ballots must be delivered to the polling stations the day before early voting, i.e. 13 December,” Nikolai Lozovik said. He added that the printing of ballots is in progress. By decision of the CEC, 7.447 million ballot papers will be made for the 2010 presidential election. The number of ballot papers exceeds the number of voters (7.094 million people) by no more than 5%, as required by law. Since the number of ballot papers is great, they are made in small batches and delivered to the regional election commissions. They will then be forwarded to the district election commissions, and then - to the polling stations. Early voting will begin on 14 December. The presidential elections in Belarus will be held on 19 December 2010.
