Belarus-Italy high-duty drill rig commissioned

GOMEL, 22 September (BelTA) – The first drill rig of increased capacity produced by Gomel-based company Seismotekhnika, part of the manufacturing corporation Belorusneft, in cooperation with Italian Drillmeс S.p.A. was put into operation on 22 September, Belorusneft told BelTA. The inauguration ceremony of the drill rig installed at well No 116 of the Rechitsa deposit was attended by representatives of 14 large drilling and oil companies of Russia, Ukraine and other CIS countries. Similar drill units with the lifting capacity of 345 tonnes have not been used in Belarus before. The drill rig makes it possible to drift bores up to five kilometers deep. Its advanced capabilities will improve performance and help avoid emergencies. Drillmeс S.p.A. representatives that attended the presentation of the new equipment praised high professionalism of Belarusian colleagues, proper fulfillment of the schedule of joint works, and expressed confidence that fruitful cooperation would be continued. By the end of the year the company plans to produce and install another drill rig at well No 22 at the Novo-Korenevsky oil deposit. Starting from 2012 Seismotekhnika will produce two drill rigs a year for Belorusneft. Seismotekhnika started cooperating with Drillmec S.p.A. in 2010. The two companies signed an agreement to set up a joint venture. In January 2011 the West-European partners purchased a 19% stake in the Belarusian company and made part of the Board of Directors. Drillmec came to the market of oil and gas equipment in 1929. The company sells into more than 70 countries. Belorusneft is the country’s leading oil extracting company that has been extracting oil for over 40 years. Belorusneft specializes in oil and gas extraction, processing of crude hydrocarbons, oil industry services, industrial science, in selling processed oil and gas products in the country and abroad.
