Belarus’ President ready to support Naftan, Polymir privatization

VILNIUS, 16 September (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is ready to support Naftan and Polymir privatization. The Belarusian leader made such a statement as he spoke to reporters on 16 September. “If you have money and willingness, then please come. I am ready to support the programme of privatizing the Belarusian oil refining association,” Alexander Lukashenko said. He also added that the cost of the company makes up nearly $3 billion. As for privatization in Belarus in general, the Belarusian leader stressed that it was pinpoint. At the same time Belarus is not going to sell profitable, GDP-forming companies. According to Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus is open including for the Lithuanian capital. “Lithuania does not dictate Belarus what policy to pursue. Therefore we are interested in cooperation on privatization issues with that country,” the President said. Following the relevant decision of shareholders Polymir was merged with Naftan in November 2008.
