Belarus President: role of Constitutional Court is rising

MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – The role of the Constitutional Court in Belarus is rising, said head of state Alexander Lukashenko as he swore in Constitutional Court Judge Tadeusz Voronovich on 9 July. “Constitutional justice is a vital element of any democratic legal state. The authority of the judicial power and the opinion of citizens, organisations and the international community about the state of legality in our country depend on the quality of the Constitutional Court work,” underlined Alexander Lukashenko. The judges’ work aimed at resolving important and responsible tasks, which are meant to ensure the stability and rigorous observance of the legal basis of the state structure, is of primary importance for supporting peace and civil accord. “We have done a lot lately to develop constitutional judicature,” pointed out Alexander Lukashenko. “The additional powers granted to the Constitutional Court have allowed it to entirely become part of the systematic legislation development and the law enforcement practice”.
