Belarus, Russia, Ukraine sign youth policy action plan for 2012

GOMEL, 17 February (BelTA) –Representatives of youth organizations of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine signed a joint plan of action for 2012, BelTA informs. In accordance with the plan, about 25 large events for the youth will be staged in Gomel, Mogilev, Orel, Bryansk and Chernigov oblasts this year. The plan provides for organizing inter-regional and open KVN cups, tournaments, contests and festivals of youth amateur performances, sports events, etc. On 17 February Gomel hosted a meeting of representatives of the state organizations for youth affairs and youth public regional associations of Gomel, Mogilev, Orel, Bryansk and Chernigov oblasts. The parties discussed the ways of enhancing international youth cooperation. In his welcoming address Deputy Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Piotr Kirichenko said that young people of Gomel are active participants of socio-political and cultural life of the region. “In 2011 the youth took part in about 1,200 different events. The public youth regional associations and organizations involve more and more young people into their activities every year,” said Piotr Kirichenko. The meeting was held as part of the agreement on cooperation of the youth of Gomel and Mogilev oblasts in Belarus, Orel and Bryansk oblasts in Russia and Chernigov oblast in Ukraine. The agreement was signed in 1996. The participants of the meeting also visited the Vetka State Museum of Folk Art.
