Belarus, Russia’s Kursk Oblast ink cooperation plan for 2011-2012

GOMEL, 25 August (BelTA) – A session of the joint working group for cooperation between Belarus and Kursk Oblast of Russia took place in Gomel on 25 August. After the session the sides inked a cooperation plan for 2011-2012. The document lays down avenues of cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural spheres, BelTA has learned. For the next two years the cooperation will focus on promoting economic contacts. The possibility of erecting the apartment buildings made by Belarusian integrated homebuilding factories in Kursk Oblast will be examined. Efforts will continue to start assembling Belkommunmash trolleybuses in Kursk Oblast. Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant, Minsk Automobile Plant, Minsk Motor Plant, Gomselmash and other Belarusian companies are supposed to be plugged into manufacturing cooperation with this region of Russia. Kursk Oblast is also interested in building Belarusian processing enterprises in the oblast. The sides also plan to work to promote cooperation based on direct agreements between universities of Belarus and Kursk Oblast. There are plans to promote contacts between research institutions as well as contacts in the area of culture and sports. An agreement on cooperation between the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University and the Professor I.Ivanov State Agricultural Academy of Kursk has been signed as well as a protocol on twinning Lgov District of Kursk Oblast and Rechitsa District of Gomel Oblast.
