Belarus to host International Tournament of Young Mathematicians

MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – Belarus will be the venue for the 3rd International Tournament of Young Mathematicians for the first time. Partaking in the forum will be teams from Germany, Russia, France, and Belarus. The opening ceremony took place in the Belarusian State University on 1 July, BelTA has learned. Deputy Education Minister of Belarus Kazimir Farino took part in the opening ceremony. The tournament will last for seven days. The participants will show their mathematic, research and oratory skills. The competition will be held in the form of mathematic battles. The entries will have to do sums and explain the solution in English. Young people will partake in open discussions to push their point of view. The BSU mathematics and informatics teachers were responsible for the training of a Belarusian team. The International Tournament of Young Mathematicians is a new intellectual competition which brings together students from different countries. Belarusian national tournaments served as a prototype for this competition. Partaking in them were students from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria. These national tournaments also gave a kick-start to the national tournaments in Bulgaria and France.
