Belarus to increase production of grain to 12m tonnes by 2015

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) - Belarus plans to increase the annual production of grain to 12 million tonnes by 2015, Deputy Prime Minister Valery Ivanov said when speaking in the House of Representatives, BelTA has learnt. According to the Vice Premier, annual potato production will be increased to almost 8 million tonnes, vegetables up to 2 million tonnes, rape seed – 1.1 million tonnes, sugar beet – 5.5 million tonnes. By the end of five-year period the annual production of milk is excepted to reach 10.7 million tonnes, that of livestock and poultry in live weight 2 million tonnes. It is also expected that by 2015 revenues from sales of agricultural products will double, profits from the sale of agricultural products will increase 9 times to reach a profit margin of at least 11%. “Growth of gross agricultural production will be emphasized. It is expected to increase by 39-45% over 2010,” the Vice Premier said.
