Belarus to present rolled sheet project at Investment Forum in Germany

MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) - A project to build a rolled sheet facility at the Belarusian Steel Works in Zhlobin will be presented at Belarus Investment Forum in Frankfurt am Main on 17 November, the chief of the main investment department at the Economy Ministry Sergei Trofimovich told reporters. Now Belarus is in talks with the world’s major companies including Italy’s Daniel. So far no final choice of the investor has been made yet. Therefore the Industry Ministry will present the project at Belarus Investment Forum in Frankfurt am Main. “Naturally, we expect that it will arouse an interest of investors,” said Sergei Trofimovich. Sergei Trofimovich also reported on the ongoing negotiations with the global industrial companies including Caterpillar and Novistar. “Certain developments have taken place. Representatives of these companies visited Belarus last year and this year,” he said. Perhaps joint ventures or representative offices of these companies will be created in Belarus. Sergei Trofimovich noted that cooperation with these companies started following the investment forums, which Belarus held in London in 2008 and in Minsk in 2009. These events took place in a time of crisis, so the negotiations with the potential investors continue.
