Belarus, Ukraine to exceed $5 billion in trade

The trade between Belarus and Ukraine that is supposed to reach $5 billion in 2008 is not a pinnacle for the trade and economic relations between the two countries. The statement was made at an opening ceremony of the national exhibition Belarus 2008 in Kiev. Partaking in the event was First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko who led the Belarusian delegation and First Vice-Premier of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Alexander Turchinov. The success is largely based on the fruitful cooperation and trusting relations between the business partners, on brotherly relations between the Belarusian and Ukrainian nations. The sides are confident that the Belarusian national exhibition in Ukraine will not only demonstrate the recent achievements of the Belarusian producers but also become one of the stimuli for the further growth of the bilateral trade. The decisions of the 15th session of the Belarus-Ukraine Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation that was held in Kiev on October 6-7 are set to promote the further development of the trade and economic cooperation. Attending the opening ceremony of the national exhibition of the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine was the heads of the diplomatic missions of Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan accredited in Ukraine, Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine Valentin Velichko and Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Igor Likhovyi, representatives of the state and business structures of Ukraine and Belarus, central mass media outlets.
