Belarusian-Russian seminar in Grodno to discuss social support of veterans

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – The Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Belarus and the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation will hold a joint seminar “Experience of regions in providing social services and social support to veterans, disabled, elderly citizens.” The seminar will be held in Grodno Oblast on 30 September, BelTA learned from press secretary for the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Belarus Varvara Alexandrovich. The seminar has been organized as part of the action plan to the Agreement on Cooperation in Social Security between the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Belarus and the Social Welfare Department of Moscow in 2011-2013. The decision to hold this event was made at the joint session of the agencies in 2010. The seminar will bring together senior executives and experts of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Belarus, the Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Security of the regional executive committees, Minsk City Hall, and also Russian experts. The sides are set to discuss innovative forms of providing social support of veterans and elderly people in Belarus and Russia. The seminar participants will visit the home for the elderly and disabled in the village of Zhukhovichi, centers for the elderly and disabled at the territorial social services centers in Novogrudok and Ivie districts, and will get familiar with the work of the daycare for people with disabilities in Lida District. During the event, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Valentina Koroleva will hold a press conference timed to coincide with International Day of Older Persons.
