CIS Youth Music Academy to perform in Gomel 6 October

GOMEL, 3 October (BelTA) – The 3rd Youth Music Academy of the CIS countries is expected to give its concert in Gomel on 6 October, BelTA learnt from the Gomel Park and Palace Ensemble. Young singers alongside established maestros will perform at the White Hall of the Palace of Rumyantsevs and Paskeviches. The CIS Youth Music Academy was founded in 2009 under the aegis of legendary viola player and conductor Yuri Bashmet. The academy opens up only for several days in early October. The Academy offers master classes from prominent teachers of music, one-to-one lessons, joint performance of maestros and beginners. These events are conducted under the auspices of the CIS Interstate Fund of Humanitarian Cooperation. The popularity of the academy is growing rapidly. Representatives from seven countries were enrolled into the academy in 2009. In 2010 it welcomed students from 10 countries. More than 40 students from the CIS countries attend the Academy this year. In the past years the faculty included such outstanding professors of Russian and European conservatories as pianist, Professor at the Music Academy in Tokyo Sergei Edelman, artistic director of the Baku Philharmonic pianist Murad Adygezal-zade, Associate Professor of Moscow Conservatory violinist Alexander Trostyansky, cellist Christophor Miroshnikov from Greece, concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Berlin Philharmonic Wilfried Strehle, artistic director of the Reggio Festival in Italy flutist Massimo Mercelli, Professor of the Conservatory in Cologne the legendary violinist Viktor Tretiakov. The Youth Music Academy of the CIS countries will give the concert in Gomel as part of the Gomel -CIS Capital of Culture 2011 project.
