Election commissions receive signature sheets from 11 presidential candidates

MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – Over 100,000 signatures have been submitted to the territorial election commissions of Belarus by 11 potential candidates for presidency, BelTA learnt from Secretary of the Central Election Commission Nikolai Lozovik. Signature sheets with over 100,000 signatures have been submitted to the election commissions by the initiative groups of incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko, Viktor Tereshchenko, Vladimir Provalsky, Vladimir Neklyayev, Yaroslav Romanchuk, Andrei Sannikov, Aleksei Mikhalevich, Dmitry Uss, Grigory Kostusev, Vitaly Rimashevsky and Nikolai Statkevich. Ivan Kulikov, Sergei Ivanov, Yuri Glushakov, Sergei Ryzhov, Sergei Gaidukevich and Piotr Borisov have not submitted their signature sheets to the election commissions. Territorial election commissions are now busy with verifying the validity of signatures. After that, the information will be further transferred to the oblast and Minsk city election commissions. By November 13 they are to sum up the results of the signature collection campaign and submit protocols stating the exact number of signatures in support of the candidates to the Central Election Commission. The Central Election Commission will register presidential nominees by 19 November. The presidential election will be held in Belarus on 19 December 2010.
