MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – The first-class basic rate will be raised to Br240,000 in Belarus as from 1 January 2013 to pay salaries of public sector workers and workers of subsidized organizations, who are treated as public sector workers as far as labor remuneration is concerned. The decision has been laid down by Council of Ministers resolution No. 1230 of 28 December 2012, the press service of the Belarusian government told BelTA. The government has passed the resolution with a view to further increasing the remuneration of the labor of public sector workers, raising the purchasing capacity of their salaries, and partially restoring the differentiation in the labor remuneration of public sector workers. It will allow raising public sector salaries by 6.7% on the average. Government resolution No. 1230 also introduces correcting coefficients for the salaries set by the uniform salary grid of the Republic of Belarus. The correcting coefficients vary from 1 to 3.5. The Labor and Social Protection Ministry has been instructed to follow the procedure and apply the coefficients to salaries of public sector workers. Central government agencies, local government agencies, heads of public sector organizations are expected to recalculate salaries of their workers in line with the new first-class basic rate and the correcting coefficients for the salaries set by the uniform salary grid. Let us remind you that the first-class basic rate was raised to Br200,000 on 1 January 2012, Br210,000 on 1 May, and Br225,000 on 1 September.
