Gomel Oblast to partake in Kaliningrad festival of cultures

GOMEL, 13 August (BelTA) – Gomel Oblast will take part in the open festival of cultures “Territory of Peace” in Kaliningrad, Russia, on 14-18 August, BelTA learnt from the Gomel cultural department. Partaking in the festival will be also Germany, Italy, Poland, France, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, and other countries. Belarus will be represented at the festival by a delegation from Gomel Oblast comprising the Svoyaki folk song ensemble, the Zhivitsa folk song amateur ensemble, the Mozyrskiye Veselushki folklore ensemble as well as soloists from the Gomel Oblast Philharmonic Hall and Gomel craftsmen. The festival will take place in Kaliningrad for the first time. A contest of young vocalists and many other events will be held at Kanta Island. The Town of Craftsmen will host an international trade fair where every participating country will present their national cuisine. The program of the festival will also include various exhibitions at Kaliningrad museums and art galleries, different roundtables and meetings. The major goal of the forum is to present national cultural traditions of the participating countries and the latest achievements in the traditional national culture, strengthen and enrich international humanitarian links, create conditions for the development of the common cultural space in Russia and foreign countries.
