Hugo Chavez: Belarus, Venezuela will continue building strategic political and economic alliance

Belarus and Venezuela will continue building the strategic political and economic alliance, President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez said in his speech in the Simon Bolivar Park on July 23 after flowers were laid at the memorial plaque in honour of the national hero of Venezuela. Hugo Chavez remarked, within only two years Belarus and Venezuela managed to create a plan of cooperation and the first stage of the building of the strategic union. “We will continue building the political, economic, energy, technological, and social alliance. An alliance from any point of view,” said the President of Venezuela. According to Hugo Chavez, the Belarusian and Venezuelan nations are united in the fight for independence. The President of Venezuela admired the heroism of the Belarusian nation, which defended its freedom in the fight against fascism during the Great Patriotic War. Now the Belarusian nation just like the Venezuelan one is defending principles of independence and sovereignty. Hugo Chavez thanked the President of Belarus for the Order of Peoples’ Friendship. “I am taking it with me as a commitment to reinforce our friendship”. The President of Venezuela also admired the beauty of the Belarusian capital. “I am in love with Belarus and the Belarusian people,” he said.
