Investment contracts worth over $100m signed at Gomel Investment Forum

GOMEL, 18 May (BelTA) – Investment contracts and protocols of intent worth over $100 million were signed at the Gomel Investment Forum on 18 May, BelTA has learned. In line with the documents several major projects involving foreign and domestic capital will be implemented soon in Gomel Oblast. In particular, Irish businessmen will build an energy installation at the Kalinkovichi dairy factory and will set up a solar park to generate electricity using solar radiation in Yelsk District. The company Russkiye Sladosti (Russian sweets) will invest $7.5 million in the construction of a logistics center in Gomel District. The foreign company Bruickbuild will build a hotel complex in Vetka District along with a hunting chalet and will get involved in fish breeding. Investments in the project will be $2 million. Almost $17 million will be invested by OOO Gipspromresurs into the production of gypsum and construction materials. As raw materials the enterprise will use waste products made by Gomel Chemical Plant as part of the mineral fertilizer manufacturing process. A total of seven investment contracts and four protocols of intent were signed at the forum. Most of them will be implemented within the next two years. The ninth Gomel Economic Forum is the largest representation forum on record. This year the event has gathered about 400 visitors representing 30 countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Korea, and Switzerland. The foreign delegations included representatives of business and financial circles, trade organizations, government agencies. The forum provides for a presentation of investment proposals and an exhibition of investment projects, a business matchmaking session and a display of products made by Gomel Oblast companies.
