Lithuania to host Days of Belarusian Culture 17-19 September

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – The Days of Belarusian Culture will be held in the Republic of Lithuania on 17-19 September, BelTA learnt from the spokeswoman for the Culture Ministry of Belarus Svetlana Shitikova. The National Art Museum of Lithuania will host an exhibition “Ivan Khrutsky in the Dialogue of Cultures” dedicated to 200th anniversary of the birth of the Belarusian painter who worked in the mid-18th century in Vilno. A memorial plaque to Frantishek Bogushevich, a poet, writer, translator, whose Vilno period of art was particularly fruitful, will be unveiled in one of the streets of Vilnius. Apart from that, Lithuania will welcome Belarus’ best creative groups including the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Belarus conducted by Alexander Anisimov and the troupe of the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater. The theater will show two productions: Szlachta of Pinsk, dedicated to the 200th of the birthday of playwright Vincent Dunin-Martsinkevich, and Translations based on a play by Irish playwright Brian Friel. Taking part in the events will be famous Belarusian cultural figures, culture ministers of the two countries, and other officials. All in all, the Belarusian delegation brings together about 170 people.
