Lukashenko: journalists should deliver balanced and correct information

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent a welcoming note to the guests and participants of the 15th international specialized exhibition, Mass Media in Belarus, BelTA learnt from the press service of the head of state. “The print journalism is called the fourth estate for a reason; it plays a key role in shaping the public opinion. Therefore, integrity and objectivity of each journalist is an important factor of the social and political stability of the state. Your duty is to deliver balanced and correct information fully realizing the responsibility for each word, shot and item,” the note says. According to the President, the exhibition is an efficient instrument of consolidating the professional community, encouraging creativity and competitiveness. It helps exchange best practices and fresh ideas. “Over the 15 years since it was established the forum has earned the popularity it deserves, has become a meaningful event in our country and abroad,” the head of state said. Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that the exhibition will help address the topical issues facing the Belarusian mass media and expand the international cooperation in the printed press, radio and television.
