Lukashenko urges to start mass harvesting of grain on 20 July

RECHITSA REGION, 16 July (BelTA) – Belarus should start the mass harvesting of cereal crops on 20 July, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said as he toured the Gomel Oblast on 16 July, BelTA has learnt. “Four days for you to get ready, and on 20 July you should get down to the mass harvesting of bread crops,” Alexander Lukashenko emphasized. He added that the harvesting campaign will be rather hard this year, as much of the crops has been lodged. “Everybody should get into gear,” the Belarusian leader demanded. “This year the requirements for harvesting will be most stringent, and this is not because the harvesting will be difficult, but because there is a shortage of bread crops in the world. Russia and Kazakhstan have been hit by drought, Europe by flood,” the President explained. In his words, large orders for grain are already coming. “The prices will skyrocket. Make sure you control them,” the head of state demanded. Visiting the Rechitsa Region, Alexander Lukashenko noted that it makes sense to double the salaries and wages of agricultural workers to prevent the leak of specialists. The Belarusian leader ordered to strictly fulfill his instructions on the straw plowback. “We need fertilizes. We should follow the example of Europe. We will work in such a regime for five years and restore the humus soil,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
