Major prospects in cooperation between Belarus, Russian corporation Rostekhnologii

Belarus sees major prospects in cooperation with Russian state corporation Rostekhnologii, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he met with Rostekhnologii Director General Sergei Chemezov on November 10. “Your corporation represents a great interest as it deals with the things similar to those roughly speaking 85% of our country’s economy is busy with. Cooperation with Russia in these areas is very advantageous for us. This is why the present meeting and prospects of cooperation are interesting for us,” said the President. Alexander Lukashenko underscored there is interest on both sides in starting global cooperation with Rostekhnologii. “It is very profitable and important, first, because it represents some experience, and second, our enterprises can contact you directly,” remarked the Belarusian leader. Alexander Lukashenko added, the enterprises would like to maintain these contacts for the sake of promoting manufacturing cooperation ties in the future. According to the head of state, it provides a good opportunity to advance together. An additional impulse, a signal for cooperation is required for that. The President underscored, cooperation with the Russian corporation is profitable for Belarus from the point of view of the international situation, both financial and economic ones. “In Belarus people should work like they have been working up till now. There is no recession in the country, especially in finance,” said the head of state. In his words, people trust the government and the banking system, to which the state responds with 100% guaranteed recovery of individuals’ deposits. “Nowadays the state has more money than people have in their deposits. If something happens, all the money of the government will be used to support the people,” underscored the President. He also added, the stable situation in Belarus attracts both Russians and Ukrainians, who deposit their money in Belarusian banks. Speaking about the global financial crisis, Alexander Lukashenko remarked, it is the time when the most serious decisions should be taken, when economy liberalisation and greater freedom are required to find a way out of the crisis. He also added, in Belarus the government has not lost the economic reins. In turn, Rostekhnologii Director General Sergei Chemezov underscored, it is now necessary to get united. He said the corporation includes 19 holding companies comprised of over 400 enterprises. Sergei Chemezov added, all the enterprises are interested in cooperation with Belarus.
