Molodechno to host festival of Belarusian song and poetry

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – Molodechno will play host to the 11th National Festival of the Belarusian Song and Poetry on 26-28 August, BelTA learned from deputy head of the Culture Department of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Svetlana Baranok. This year’s festival will be dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Mulyavin. The festival will include the national contest of young pop singers. Each oblast and the city of Minsk will be represented by three singers. The award ceremony will be held on 27 August. According to Svetlana Baranok, the festival has an interesting program. Molodechno Oblast Drama Theater and the Puppet Theater will be the venue for Belarusian performances. On 27 August Molodechno will host a concert by young poets and writers from Minsk Oblast, winners of the regional rally “Young Talents of Minsk Oblast”. The festival will end with a gala performance of Belarusian singers and a spectacular display of fireworks. The festival in held once in two years. In 2007 it was dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas. The 2009 forum was held under the auspices of the 65th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi occupation. The festival in Molodechno is aimed at promoting Belarusian music, poetry and language, revealing new talents and expanding creative contacts. Organizers of the festival are the Culture Ministry, the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, the National Academic Symphony and Concert Orchestra of Belarus, the National TV and Radio Broadcasting Company.
