OSCE ODIHR ready to aid Law-Making Centre, Central Election Commission of Belarus

Recommendations of the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights using results of the monitoring of the Belarusian parliament elections were discussed during a meeting of Belarus President Administration Head Vladimir Makei and an OSCE ODIHR delegation led by ODIHR Director Janez Lenarcic on January 22, BelTA learnt from representatives of the Belarus President Administration. The sides mentioned the determination for practical cooperation during the consideration of OSCE recommendations and proposals concerning the enhancement of Belarus’ electoral legislation and relevant law application practices. Janez Lenarcic expressed readiness for tight cooperation and provision of expert aid to the National Law-Making Centre and the Central Election Commission of Belarus. He was also satisfied with Belarus’ readiness for cooperation and appreciated the conditions Belarus had created for the delegation. The OSCE ODIHR delegation led by Janez Lenarcic is staying in Belarus on January 22-23 in order to discuss ODIHR recommendations using results of the monitoring of the Belarusian parliament elections in 2008.
