Polish companies interested in joint ventures in Belarus

GOMEL, 20 May (BelTA) – The analysis of the development of relations between North-Western regions of Poland and Belarus proves that Poland is vigorously penetrating Belarus’ market, BelTA learned from Consul General of Belarus to Poland Ruslan Yesin who is taking part in the Gomel Economic Forum. According to Ruslan Yesin, within two months more than 15 companies from this region (five provinces) have negotiated with potential Belarusian partners. “First of all, we are interested in projects to set up joint ventures in wood processing and biomass production. The second promising area for Polish businessmen is an opportunity to implement projects to build tourist sites and infrastructure, including investing agricultural tourism. It proves that penetrating Belarus’ market through joint ventures is promising because of the opportunities to promote products to the Customs Union member states, namely Russia and Kazakhstan,” Ruslan Yesin said. When speaking about the flow of Belarusian capital and commodities to Poland, Ruslan Yesin praised an active role of Gomel companies. This activity became obvious after signing the cooperation agreement between Gomel Oblast and Lubusz Province of Poland in 2007. Thus, such an impressive delegation from this province is partaking in the Gomel Economic Forum, Ruslan Yesin said. The delegation consists from 14 people, namely representatives of the embassy, other officials, and businessmen. “To date over 3,000 Belarusian products have European certificates, and this number is increasing every year. Probably it is time to set up big wholesale stores in Poland to deliver goods to the trade network,” Ruslan Yesin said.
