Representatives of European, African universities to meet in Gomel

GOMEL, 22 June (BelTA) – The universities of the European Union which participate in the Tempus program “The Improvement and Development of Professional Education” will meet in Gomel on 23 June to discuss the results of the program. Partaking in the final meeting will be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Belarus Michel Raineri and Counselor for Cooperation and Culture of the Embassy Ludovic Royer, BelTA learned from the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. The project unites 15 European and African universities. Belarus is represented by the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University and the Belarus-Russia University in Mogilev. The project was launched in January 2009 and will be completed on 1 January 2012. In line with the project, the educational process for students of the economic departments was based on the European model. The project also provided an opportunity to undergo training in the European universities which coordinated the project. The program results will be discussed by the participants of the program at the meeting in Gomel. There are also plans to define cooperation avenues within the framework of the Tempus project. This program is aimed at solving structural problems of higher education, its modernization, and the development of cooperation.
