Russian special forces to train in Belarus

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – In August special operations forces of the Russian Interior Ministry are expected to take a training course in Belarus, BelTA learnt from the information and PR department of the Interior Ministry of Belarus. Belarus’ special police forces, in turn, will be trained at the Zubr special designation police detachment of the Interior Ministry of Russia. The program will include tactics, marksmanship and physical training. The program is organized as part of the Union State effort, Crime Fighting on the Territory of the Union State Treaty Member States in 2008-2012. First Deputy Interior Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Sukhodolsky has addressed Belarus’ Interior Minister Anatoly Kuleshov with a proposal to look into an opportunity of involving representatives of the central administrative offices of the interior ministries as well as special forces of the territorial interior bodies of the two countries into joint special tactical training exercises starting from 2013. According to Mikhail Sukhodolsky, the move will promote practical cooperation during joint operations and enhance skills in military and combat activity.
