Six million tonnes of grain harvested in Belarus

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) - As of the morning of August 11, Belarusian agricultural companies harvested 6.416 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry. In terms of general yield, the nationwide leader is Minsk Oblast, which harvested 1,487 million tonnes. Grodno Oblast threshed 1.1674 million tonnes, Vitebsk -940,200 tonnes, Brest - 896,300 tonnes, Mogilev – 814,600 tonnes, Gomel – 736,100 tonnes. The average yield countrywide is 34.9 centners per hectare. The highest yield is in Grodno Oblast - 43.1 centners per hectare. The lowest yield is in Gomel Oblast - 28.4 centners per hectare. Farmers have already cropped 1.734 million hectares, which accounts for 76.5% of the harvest area. Brest Oblast has already harvested 84.7% of the harvest area. Brest Oblast cropped 82.6%, Grodno - 81.8%, Vitebsk - 66.6%, Minsk - 74.2%, Mogilev - 74.5% of the harvest area. Rape has been harvested on 218,500 hectares, or 73.5% of the area. The harvest is 352,600 tonnes, with the average yield at 16.1 centners per hectare. Flax has been harvested on 49,900 hectares (76.7% of the sown area).
