UK Ambassador hopes to see good football in Gomel

GOMEL, 2 August (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Belarus Bruce Bucknell, who is in Gomel on a visit, said he hoped to see some good football in the match FC Gomel vs FC Liverpool, BelTA learnt. The diplomat refused to make any projections for the upcoming game, and said that the Embassy did not have much time to get prepared for the arrival of the legendary football club. Football theme was raised at a meeting between the diplomat and Vice Governor of Gomel Oblast Boleslav Pirshtuk. Development of contacts in culture, sports and tourism could be one of the priorities of cooperation between the UK Embassy and Gomel Oblast. The Ambassador is confident that bilateral economic cooperation has good prospects, especially what concerns investment projects. One of the reasons is Belarus’ membership in the single economic space with Russia and Kazakhstan. Acquisition of Gomel-based Ingman Morozhenoye plant by the holding company with the English capital can be cited as a good example. Mr Bruce Bucknell visited this Belarusian company today. Tonight he is expected to attend the Gomel vs Liverpool match.
