World Bank to continue monitoring of Belarus’ state finance management until year-end

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) - The World Bank will continue to assess the effectiveness of state finance management in Belarus until the 2013 year-end, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian State Control Committee (SCC).

The Belarusian delegation, which included specialists from the main budgetary and financial control department and the main information analysis department of the SCC, headed by Deputy Chairperson of the SCC Raisa Savritskaya, met with a group of experts from the World Bank.

Members of the World Bank delegation, Yelena Nikulina (Russia), Mark Silins (Australia) and Andrew Mackie (the UK), are in Belarus on a two-week visit to assess the effectiveness of state finance management in line with the program Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA).

The meeting participants discussed the issues of internal and external audit, the effectiveness of financial audit and measures that should be taken based on its results, the introduction of coordinated audit plans and control over these plans by Belarusian supervisory bodies.

The international experts got exhaustive answers to the questions about the effectiveness of spending and control in the field of public purchasing. The meeting participants also touched upon the control of common financial risks connected with the operation of the state sector.
