37 delegations from 21 countries intend to take part in Gomel Investment Forum
37 delegations from 21 countries worldwide intend to take part in the 5th Investment Forum which will be held in Gomel on May 22-23. Around 170 foreign businessmen, bankers, diplomats and public figures are expected to attend the forum, BelTA learnt from Marina Filonova, the head of the foreign and economic ties department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
In 2007, the forum was attended by 20 delegations from 15 countries. According to specialists, there are several reasons of the heightened attention of potential investors to the south-east region of Belarus. First, the Gomel oblast is one of the most developed regions of the country. It has developed infrastructure and highly skilled personnel. Second, this year participants of the forum will be able to get familiar with the investment possibilities of not only Gomel but the biggest industrial centres of the region – Mozyr, Zhlobin, Rechitsa where plenary sessions will be held as well. Third, recently Belarus has taken special measures to improve the business-climate in the country.
At the same time Gomel will host traditional universal exhibition and fair Spring in Gomel 2008. Attending the exhibition will be dozens of foreign companies. The first foreign guests will arrive in Gomel on May 20.
