3rd Polessye Cup ice hockey tournament to be held in Belarus, Ukraine
The third international ice hockey tournament Polessye Cup will be held on the rinks of Belarus and Ukraine. It is the distinguishing feature of the tournament, Vladimir Shvabovsky, acting director general of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation said at the session of the organization committee in Gomel on December 3.
The tournament will be held in Zhlobin, Gomel and Kiev on December 17-20. “The competitions are held in Belarusian and Ukrainian towns because the two countries are the major contenders to host 2014 Ice Hockey World Championship”, Vladimir Shvabovsky said.
Taking part in Polessye Cup are the strongest ice hockey players representing Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Denmark and France.
The finals are scheduled for December 20.
Vladimir Shvabovsky added that Belarus won the two previous Polessye Cup tournaments in 2007 and 2008.
