8,000th print run of famous newspaper Chyrvony Kastrychnik available

Today saw the 8000th print run of Oktyabrskiy district newspaper Chyrvony Kastrychnik (red October). The newspaper was founded in 1939 to become the chronicle of the famous Rudobelskaya Republic, which was sung by books by Sergei Grakhovskiy and a film by director Nikolai Kalinin. Between autumn 1941 and January 1944 the town of Oktyabrskiy was the centre of Oktyabrsko-Lyubanskaya guerrilla resistance area. The territory preserved the Soviet government, schools, a power plant, and workshops. The town is proud of its association with organisers of the guerrilla regiment Krasnyi Oktyabr, one of the first Belarusian guerrillas — Tikhon Bumazhkov and Fiodor Pavlovskiy, who were awarded the title of the Soviet Union Hero on August 6, 1941. Archived copies of Chyrvony Kastrychnik newspaper can tell readers about all the historic events in detail. The newspaper's editor-in-chief Alla Fedosenko told BelTA, actually every print run contains articles about the heroic past of the land. She stressed, "Publications are mainly based on everyday affairs of the district, which economy has been beefed up, and the district town and all the settlements noticeably improved their outlook over the recent years". The town ranks second in Gomel region in the number of phones per capita. All important events are presented by the newspaper. "The district's connection to the gas distribution network with assistance of the Belarusian president was especially remarkable," Alla Fedosenko noted.
