About 10 per cent of combine operators in Gomel oblast are contract workers
About 10 per cent of combine operators in Gomel oblast are contract workers, BelTA was informed by deputy chairman of the committee for agriculture and foodstuffs of the Gomel oblast executive committee Richard Stefanovich.
In his words, the oblast has established the practice of hiring people from the outside due to the lack of machine-operators in some agricultural companies. The main requirement to those who are hired is working experience in the field.
As an example, Richard Stefanovich cited the republican agricultural unitary enterprise Demekhi of the Rechitsa region where employee of the Rechitsa police department Vladimir Suprenok has been working as a combine operator for the fourth harvesting season this year. It is noteworthy that before the harvesting started he and his older brother had repaired a Don-1500 combine harvester during their days-off.
According to Richard Stefanovich, hiring contractors is one of the ways to solve the lack of personnel during summer field works.
