About 14 thousand working places to be set up in small towns of Gomel oblast by 2010
By 2010, about 14 thousand working places will be set up in small towns of the Gomel oblast. The unemployment rate will be downed to 1%, BelTA learnt in the committee for labor and social protection of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
According to specialists, the unemployment rate is expected to be downed due to implementation of the programme on developing small and middle-sized towns. In 2007, employers of the region were granted a budget loan at the amount of Br698 million to set up 53 new working places at companies and organizations of Rogachev, Zhitkovichi, Oktyabrsky, Lelchitsy and the Rechitsa region.
This year, due to the taken measures, the number of the unemployed in the Gomel oblast was reduced by 16%. However, as of today, 31 settlements of the Gomel oblast have problems with the population employment. As of October 1, the highest unemployment rate was registered in the town of Vasilevichi of the Rechitsa region (4.4%), Oktyabrsky (2.9%), Rogachev (2.3%), Dobrush (1.8%) and Zhitkovichi (1.7%).
On the whole, in 2007, 2620 working places will be set up in the Gomel oblast. Till 2010, annually, no less than 2.5 thousand working places will be set up in the oblast.
