About 200 people to attend Chernobyl Readings 2012 in Gomel

GOMEL, 19 April (BelTA) – About 200 people have come to Gomel to take part in the international conference Chernobyl Readings 2012 that will be held at the National Research Center for Radiation Medicine and Human Ecology on 19-20 April, BelTA learnt from chief for international cooperation and information of the center Vasilina Yevseyenko. The participants include medical specialists and scientists from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. They will discuss rehabilitation of people affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, share expertise and knowledge in preventing cancer and iodine deficiency in people living in contaminated areas, etc. The National Research Center for Radiation Medicine and Human Ecology provides specialized medical assistance to people affected by the Chernobyl nuclear accident. The center provides an integrated scientific framework for the government program to mitigate the outcome of the Chernobyl disaster. Each April it holds scientific conferences timed to the anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear accident.
