Agricultural producers of southern regions of Gomel oblast begin spring sowing campaign
Agricultural producers of the southern regions of Gomel oblast have begun an oats sowing campaign. Following the tradition the first to start the campaign were agricultural producers of the Khoiniki region.
Yesterday, the sovkhoz Sudkovo sowed the first 15 hectares with this crop, Nikolai Sadchenko, the chairman of the regional executive committee, told BelTA. Today two more agricultural organizations of the region have started sowing spring crops. Most of the companies will join in by the end of the week.
According to Nikolai Sadchenko, this year the Khoiniki region is better prepared for spring field works than last year. The agricultural producers of the region repaired the farm machines, purchased necessary amount of mineral fertilizers and created the reserves of fuel.
Machine-operators are expected to start working in two shifts beginning March 15. The sowing campaign of spring crops is to finish by April 1. More than 15 thousand hectares should be sown this spring in the Khoiniki region.
According to the oblast committee for agriculture and foodstuffs, the companies from other regions of the Polesye zone are about to start the sowing of spring crops.
