Alkylation plant of Mozyr Oil Refinery to go operational by late June

By late June OAO Mozyr Oil Refinery plans to use the alkylation plant to manufacture the first products, company representatives told BelTA. Company specialists said, all installation works for the new plant had been completed and the equipment is being switched to the operational mode. “Three out of four alkylation sections are already operational, working routines are being tuned. Launch operations have begun for the fourth section,” said the source. The new equipment will be used to make around 300,000 tonnes of alkylate per annum. It is a high-octane ecologically-friendly additive meant to improve the quality of automobile petrols. The butane-butylene fraction made by the catalytic cracking complex of Mozyr Oil Refinery will be used as feedstock. The project was launched in 2004, with around $140 million invested. It is one of the largest projects the Belarusian petrochemical industry is implementing at present. It is financed by the company. The payback period is expected to be close to five years. Mozyr Oil Refinery was founded in 1975 and converted into an open joint-stock company in 1994. The state share in the company’s authorised fund stands at 42.7%, NGK Slavneft — 42.6%, other shareholders — 14.7%. The company is part of the Belarusian petrochemical concern Belneftekhim. In 2007 Mozyr Oil Refinery processed around 10.6 million tonnes of oil. In 2008 the figure is supposed to reach 10.85 million tonnes.
