All districts of Gomel region to mark Elderly People Day
Actions timed to the Elderly People Day will take place in all districts of Gomel region.
BelTA learnt from the regional labour and social security committee, special attention will be paid to honouring long-livers. There are 78 people aged over 100. On October 1 in Gomel’s Tsentralnyi district three long-livers will be honoured. The district administration will congratulate and city businessmen will present gifts to 106-year-old Ignatiy Romanenko and 101-year-old Agrippina Burchinskaya and Alexandra Korotkevich.
As part of the regional charity action Zabota (care) activists of the Belarusian National Youth Union will deliver agricultural products to the region’s elderly people and Great Patriotic War vets. The agricultural products were bought with money earned during subbotniks.
Gomel region also prepared amateur concerts to mark the Elderly People Day.
