Andrei Tolchikov from Gomel wins bronze at world draughts juniors and girls championship
Andrei Tolchikov scored 12 points to settle into the third position at the world draughts juniors and girls championship 2006 in Hijken (Netherlands) 12-18 August 2006, BelTA has been told by chief specialist of the department for physical culture, sport and tourism of the Gomel oblast executive committee Pavel Starosvetskiy. The player from Gomel was one point behind silver winner Igor Mikhalchenko from Minsk and two points behind the champion - Meurs Pim from the Netherlands.
Pavel Starosvetskiy noted that this is a big success of 16-year-old Andrei Tolchikov which speaks about his great potential.
A reminder, the Gomel player has recently won the world and Europe championships cadets.
