Azarab Ind Co ready to launch cement plant construction in Gomel oblast
GOMEL, May 21 (BelTA) – Azarab Industries Company from Iran is ready to start building a cement plant in the Gomel oblast, Azarab Ind Co project manager in Belarus Ahmad Mahdi Soltani told reporters at the Gomel Economic Forum on May 21.
The Belarusian and Iranian sides had been working on this investment project for three years already. It will be implemented once the relevant decree is signed by the President of Belarus. According to the project manager, it may be done within several days. The document is to define the rights of investors and exploitation terms of Shirokoye and Podkamenye chalk deposits in the Gomel oblast within 50 years.
Ahmad Mahdi Soltani said that the ecological evaluation of the deposit and economic assessment of the project are to be completed soon. The project is estimated at over $250 million.
The Iranian company won the tender to invest in the development of chalk deposits in the Vetka region and in the construction of the cement plant together with all the related engineering, transport and social infrastructure. The plant is to turn out up to 2 million tonnes of cement a year, as well as other construction materials – lime, building blocks from aerated concrete and dry pack mortar. Up to 70% of the products can be exported by the investors through their own commodity distribution network.
