Belarus’ athletes win 50 licenses for First Youth Olympic Games

MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – Belarus won one more license for the First Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, BelTA learnt from press service of the national Olympic Committee. Andrei Pikuza form Mozyr one a license in Greco-Roman wrestling. Thus Belarus has a total of 50 licenses in 22 sports. The team includes two masters of sport of international class – Ilya Chergeiko (shooting) and Irina Gul (archery), 24 masters of sport and 24 candidates to the master of sport. The Belarusian athletes have won licenses in athletics, women’s basketball, cycling, rowing, shooting, artistic gymnastics, canoe/kayak, swimming, trampoline, modern pentathlon, archery, weightlifting, boxing, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, sailing, table tennis, fencing and tennis. The territorial breakdown of the team is as follows: 10 people represent the Minsk oblast, 10 Grodno oblast, 8 Brest oblast, 7 Gomel oblast, 6 Mogilev oblast, 4 Vitebsk and 5 Minsk oblasts. All in all, 3,594 athletes aged from 14 to 18 will compete in 30 sports for 201 sets of medals at the Summer Olympic Games.
