Belarusian Gomselmash eyeing North Africa

GOMEL, 19 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian mechanical engineering company Gomselmash is considering the possibility of selling agricultural machines to North Africa countries, BelTA learned from Igor Korotkevich, Head of the Non-CIS Sales Office of the company. The company plans to enter the grain harvester markets of Algeria and Tunisia. “The region is completely new for us, however, marketing researches indicate that Belarusian machines will be quite competitive there,” said Igor Korotkevich. Gomselmash may ship the first batch of grain harvesters in mid-2013. Increasing the number of export destinations and expanding the range of exports are the key factors in the operation of any Belarusian enterprise. In the last few years Gomselmash has been able to considerably increase the export of components and ready-made harvesters to Kazakhstan and China. The company regularly ships forage harvesters to Argentina. This year the company has shipped the first batches of machines to Brazil and South Korea. “All of this adds to confidence in our search for new markets,” said Igor Korotkevich. In January-August 2012 Gomselmash exported $262 million worth of products, 8.6% up from the same period of last year. The manufacturing corporation Gomselmash was founded in 1978. It stemmed from the Gomselmash factory that was established in 1930. As a major manufacturer of agricultural machines in the CIS states and Europe, Gomselmash offers self-propelled and trailed forage harvesters and crushing mowing machines, grain harvesters, mounted mowers, potato and beet harvesters.
