Belarusian Gomselmash to expand presence in China

GOMEL, 13 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian mechanical engineering company Gomselmash plans to expand its presence in China, the company’s Acting Director General Ivan Proturo told BelTA. The company will ship more merchandise to China thanks to mutually beneficial cooperation with Dong Jin Group. Dong Jin Group is a co-founder of the Belarusian-Chinese mechanical engineering venture OOO Harbin Dong Jin Gomel. Its manufacturing facility is located in the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China. According to Ivan Proturo, Gomselmash will be able to offer 700 grain maize harvesters by the beginning of this year’s harvesting campaign. In Belarus the harvesters are codenamed as 4YZQ-4. To compare, in 2011 the company assembled 300 machines. Several days ago Gomselmash held negotiations with the Chinese partners in Gomel. The negotiations confirmed the intention of the sides to further promote cooperation. In particular, this autumn the testing of an improved grain maize harvester KPS-4-1 will be continued for the sake of starting batch production next year. According to the source, the grain maize harvester has implemented several new design solutions and will be more competitive on the Chinese market. Three more factories manufacture similar machines in Heilongjiang Province, with one of them owned by John Deere Company. The sides also reached an agreement to prepare powerful grain harvesters Polesie for batch production. The grain harvesters will be fitted with additional tools to be able to harvest grain maize. “We discussed several other matters as well. In short, we could export Belarusian farming technologies to China via producing new kinds of machinery. You must understand, it is a completely different level of cooperation,” said the Gomselmash head. Exporting more is a priority for Gomselmash. “Our view totally corresponds with the strategic task set by the president of Belarus at a recent session involving members of the government,” said Ivan Proturo. “The thing is the Belarusian market will soon be full of new grain harvesters made by Gomselmash. Exporting more machines is the only way to keep the workers busy and to secure decent salaries,” he added. To confirm his words, the Gomselmash head quoted some statistics. In January-August 2012 the company exported $262 million worth of products, 8.6% up from the same period of last year. The manufacturing corporation Gomselmash was founded in 1978. It stemmed from the Gomselmash factory that was established in 1930. As a major manufacturer of agricultural machines in the CIS states and Europe, Gomselmash offers self-propelled and trailed forage harvesters and crushing mowing machines, grain harvesters, mounted mowers, potato and beet harvesters.
