BMZ intends to produce more than 20 thousand tonnes of solid-drawn hot-rolled pipes a month

By the end of 2008, the Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ) intends to produce more than 20 thousand tonnes of solid-drawn hot-rolled pipes a month. Thus, by the end of the current year, the plant will produce 250 thousand tonnes of the solid-drawn hot-rolled pipes a year, chief engineer Viktor Matochkin told BelTA. The Belarusian Steel Works launched the production of this kind of pipes in July 2007. According to specialists, in January-February the company –produced 5, 9 thousand tonnes of the solid-drawn hot-rolled pipes. At present, specialists of the Belarusian Steel Works are considering the setting up of a new sheet rolling production. Specialists are developing design plans and specifications, technical and economic showings of the new construction, identifying potential markets for the new product. “Anyway, in late 2008 – early 2009 everything will be settled,” Viktor Matochkin noted. The steel mill was founded in 1984. At present the national unitary enterprise Belarusian Steel Works is a major exporter shipping its make to over 50 countries across the globe. Merchandise export accounts for more than 85% of the company’s output. BMZ specialises in cast sections, rolled sections, profiled iron, reinforcing bars, metal cord and other kinds of wire. The Belarusian Steel Works employs 13 thousand people.
