BUCE Gomel branch holds around 670 trade sessions for almost 3 months

Over the three months, the Gomel branch of OAO Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) has held around 670 trade sessions at the amount of Br9.8 billion. More than 60 companies constantly take part in the trade sessions held at the Gomel branch. As BelTA learnt from director of the Gomel branch Alexander Chuikov, the regional commodity exchange opened on July 18, 2007. Before, the regional traders have had to go to Minsk to participate in the trade sessions. The Gomel branch provides all the services supplied by BUCE. During the sessions, forestry companies are the most active ones. Producers of agricultural products have started to take an active interest in the trade sessions as well. Recently, the Kalinkovichi-based Cheese-Making Plant has sold products at the amount of $500 thousand. The Mozyr-based Milk Processing Factory held successful trade sessions – it sold technical casein to one of the Singaporean companies. At present, the Svetlogorsk companies are being registered at the commodity exchange to supply potato. The main purpose of the Gomel branch is to expand the number of trade sessions. Open joint-stock company Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange was registered in May 2004 with a view to improving the state regulation of the domestic and overseas trade, developing an organized wholesale commodity market, providing an equal access of economic entities to the market and creating additional economic stimuli for them. The first auctions were held in June 2005. Today BUCE has three sections: metal products, agricultural products and timber products.
