Candidates from five political parties included in district election commissions for Gomel oblast

Candidates from the five political parties have been included in the district election commissions for Gomel oblast on the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the fourth convocation, BelTA learnt from the organization and personnel department of the Gomel oblast executive committee. In the region some 221 people will be engaged in the work of the 17 district election commissions. Partaking in their nomination were labour collectives, parties, public associations and residents. The formation of election commissions kept to the gender parity – 50% women and 50% men. The commissions were formed by 81 candidates (36.7%) proposed by the residents, 42 (19%) – by labour collectives, 39 (17.6%) – by public organizations and 25 (11.3%) – by political parties. Only seven out of 11 parties registered in the Gomel oblast nominated candidates in the district commissions. The election commissions embraced members of the five parties: the Agrarian Party, the Communist Party of Belorussiya, the United Civil Party, the Party of Belarusian Communists, the Republican Party of Labour and Justice. The most active among the public associations were Belaya Rus, the Belarusian Republican Union of Youth and veteran organizations. The elections to the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament are due on September 28, 2008.
