Charity action Packing the Schoolbag begins in Gomel oblast
GOMEL, June 19 (BelTA) – The charity action Packing the Schoolbag has begun in the Gomel oblast to end on October 31, BelTA learnt from Larisa Mezhevich, director of the Gomel oblast department of the national public association Belarusian Children’s Fund.
The action is supposed to aid orphans, children deprived of parental care, disabled children, and children from low-income families to get ready for the new academic years. During this period they will have the necessary stationery, schoolbags, school uniforms and footwear acquired for them.
Larisa Mezhevich remarked that in the Gomel oblast the action has been held under the aegis of the Belarusian Children’s Peace Fund since 2003. Dozens of companies, organisations, businessmen and residents of the Gomel oblast traditionally take part in the charity action. For instance, the trade union of the Gomel branch of Beltelecom, the local electromechanical plant, and the oblast prosecution are traditional participants.
Thanks to the action hundreds of families in need will get the things necessary for the new academic year. School accessories may be also presented to students of boarding schools.
