Chernobyl conference in Gomel to gather more than 150 scientists from various countries

The international research conference “Chernobyl readings” will be held in the Gomel National Research Centre of Radiation Medicine and Human Ecology on April 24-25. The traditional forum which is annually held in Gomel will gather more than 150 scientists from various countries, director of the centre Alexander Rozhko told BelTA. The annual conference dedicated to the Chernobyl accident discusses the most important medical aspects of accident’s consequences. Specialists exchange the results of their research and the experience of the use of up-to-date developments in the field of radiation medicine. This year attending the forum will be representatives of research centres of Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic states, Germany and France. The programme of the forum includes a plenary session and the work of a number of sections dedicated to the problems of medical consequences of the Chernobyl accident and dose monitoring of the population, socio-economic development of the affected regions, radio-ecological and radiobiological consequences of the accident and their forecasting.
